Hmm... TheStreet appears to be bent on absolutely destroying Calpine. Most odd. Of course the one thing that he neglects is that it is probably unlikely that the capital markets will absolutely dry up and that Calpine does have substantial assets/contracts that are worth real cash. These articles are fraught with innuendo as was the one earlier. I am frankly a little surprised with the level of animosity towards Calpine and wonder if there is more to it -- I'm not big on conspiracy theories, but the quality of journalism is just absolutely abysmal in these articles.

The one thing that bothers me, is that his focus is on an event that is at least 4-5 months out -- a lot can happen in that time -- the bonds only dropped today to yield 11-12%. They could easily regain their confidence tomorrow. Any analysts -- bonds and otherwise have been arguing that Calpine is not nearly in the predicament as Enron is...
