valid: 2 a : well-grounded or justifiable : being at once relevant and meaningful

I think we're using the word, valid, differently. You seem to be looking for the correct or best opinion. I'm merely looking at one for which a decent case can be made, as opposed to a "stupid" opinion.

For opinions that cannot be proved or disproved, we need to make a determination of which ones we will respect, or perhaps, tolerate. The only alternative to drawing a line is to respect them all, no matter how stupid--Greg's point about whether all opinions are of equal value--which is where this discussion started.

So I got out the dictionary and looked at synonyms. Perhaps cogent is a clearer way of expressing my meaning, but Greg started with valid so I worked with that.
