Nigel/Customer F/Cable Modems

Believe you might be right about this co as a gem.

Nigel Misc:
former director of access technology at BT and now vice president of new business development for the North American unit of Orckit Communications. Also Chair ADSL Forum Technical Committee.

His BT position sounds significant. Do you have any other info? Why he left BT? etc...

Orckit's major customer (Customer F p. F19) for 96? Have spent some time on this one and narrowed it down: France Telecom or Telecom Italia? Looking at it another way, may be GETEL/SAT? an Orckit OEM for HDSL products. Do you know?

Customer F accounted for revenues of $5.401 million in '96 up from only $326,000 in '95. Believe mostly HDSL product/Europe.

Have also spent some time on orckit/cable modems. If you haven't checked this out, its worth an hour or two: Orckit/Ultracom/Howard Strachman. Along the way check out Hybrid Networks. There are two Ultracoms: Ultracom Communications Holdings Ltd. (Israel) p. 6. and Ultracom Communications Inc. (USA); note the backers of Ultracom USA (more extensive listing than in the Orckit literature/same total $).. First product to be commercially available in 97, an upstream modulator chip set: an advanced modulation scheme called Variable Constellation/Multitone Modulation (VC/MTM). "VC/MTM works similarly to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), with adaptability features common to discrete multitone (DMT).... That means the upstream data is moved at a variable rate depending on upstream plant conditions"
