From SSB today, SUMMARY * On 12/10, NetApp announced several new products: 1)NearStore, 2) F87 Filer, 3) F810 Filer and 4)Availability Assurance. * The NearStore is a new product line designed for secondary backup (files which are less frequently accessed) versus the Filer which is used for primarybackup. The appliances are similar in design to NetApp's Filers but in order to make it more affordable to customers, NetApp has used lower-performing disk drives which have an ATA interface instead of Fibre Channel. * The F87 Filer replaces the F85 and includes improvements such as a faster processor and higherstorage capacity. The enterprise-level F810 Filer replaces the F740. An Intel-based microprocessor(Pentium 3) replaces a DEC Alpha-based chip. * We maintain our 3H rating and are raising our pricetarget to $20 from $15.
