Cabo report:
Stayed at the Plaza Las Glorias, which has a lovely location right on the Marina and Main Street of Cabo San Lucas, this being at the tip of the Baja. The hotel is what I would call a 3 star, a bit less than expected but all in all, OK. Arrived Saturday midday with sunny skies and temps around 80. First half of the week weather was much the same, then became mostly cloudy with brief periods of partly sunny.
Did 3 days of fishing, catching mostly Dorado, a Rooster fish and a skipjack tuna, and a couple pesky pelicans that were released. Only had one close encounter with a Marlin, but it refused to take the lure, not unlike Id. The fishing days were the overcast days, so the marlin were staying down deeper, not chasing surface lures. Some boats had a marlin on the back, but not many. I would have done a tag and release had I caught one. The Dorado was taken to a local eating place and cooked and served breaded, blackened, and grilled with garlic. Fix your fish 3 different ways at the same time - nice service.
All the food was good to excellent. All the people were most friendly and provided great service - unlike Id.
The rental car was costly and did sit unused on a couple of the fishing days. The car wasn't really necessary for the full week but did provide a degree of freedom.
Did a 3 hour ATV outing and loved it so much did another a couple days later. I had never done that and am glad that I did.
The hardest part of the trip was believing that it is December and Christmas just 3 weeks away.
Arrived home to Rain in NYC, slush in Westchester and 2 inches of new snow at home. I guess it is December. GTC buy to close AAOLL executed on Wednesday while away. Had fun and may some money while away. Not too shabby if you can get away with it.
