You make a good point about key employees working on the integration issues. My impression is that the merger is a good thing. I think analysts are being very short-sighted and suspect that part of the reason they oppose the merger is due to overly optimistic assumptions about an economic rebound. They are still pushing the idea of a V shaped recovery which would mean HWP is bogged down in integration issues when the good times roll. I think it's more likely the economy dips down again in the first quarter of next year after a slight uptick in the current quarter -- partly due to silly reasons like 0% financing and patriotic borrowing and buying. Looking at the big picture, I think the writing is on the wall that the computer industry needs consolidation and HWP/CPQ is a step in that direction. If that's the only consolidation that occurs then it's probably not enough, but that may be a gambit HWP must make. I also think that the Hewletts and the Packards are being a bit naive and are perhaps more concerned about power and control rather than economics. I guess time will tell.
