Sure -- the Lord didn't put a roadsign labeling it, and the writer may be wrong, but for me, it was interesting, exciting, and correct.
Grandpa , it's OK... with an open heart for you to believe that the Lord first put the idea of -->not killing , stealing and the other seeds of first human sentience mankind on a mountain with Moses ....
(jewish archaeologists still haven't found the mountain and pretty much have given up)
... don't forget that Moses ordered the deaths of over 20,000 of his fellow tribesman, after coming down off whichever mountain it was he was on . He also OK'ed the raping of women as well , which is unfathomable to my mind.
Sad that he wasn't better equipped to convert those poor hapless others with out having to order the deaths of so many , after just talking with the Lord and recieving the commandments not to kill ? There had to have been a better way .
Kind of a bitter sweet episode , and that is the kind of disparity that made me question how much I wanted to have to do with this kind of testement and old prophesy . Also the idea of eternal damnation , that Jesus the Rabbai was too overfond of will be replaced in the next few generations of man, for the real and more complete truth at last .
Love the story you feel most comfortable with . But the tale goes farther back than this . It's just too hard to concieve an all loving God so prone to condemning souls to everlasting hell with such regularity .
Something to keep priests in jobs and to scare little children with , and old prophets that haven't been eating regularly prone to rant on about . But so very off base. |
