Frank: Thanks for the info on the Broadband Internet Access Act of 2001...If it goes thru, it might give latecomers an edge...perhaps a leapfrog. This could explain some foot dragging by the ILEC's. They're certainly in a position to be sensitive to legislative initiatives.
OTOH, the bill appears to focus on underserved areas where a 10% edge still wouldn't make it profitable and, presumably, super power users willing to pay for 10x current broadband capabilities. Considering the low adaption rate of broadband where it's available [Methinks < 10%]...this would appear to target a tiny niche...at least for now.
