The cult worship of Dell . . . . Unfortunately, they will likely follow GTW into oblivion, only it will take a bit longer.

Very possibly. I don't care about Dell one way or another, but they certainly carried the distribution of the PC to its next logical level (direct, rather than through distribution, with much more configuration flexibility). Long after the channel added any value to the sale of a PC, CPQ and HWP have been stuck in a model that continues to cost them points on the sale of each PC.

I agree with you that Dell will eventually be unseated as well (or they'll transform their business so much that you won't recognize it as a PC company), but it won't be HWP, CPQ, or IBM that unseats them. Any thoughts on who it will be?
