Tokyo, Japan, Dec 12, 2001 (NDC via COMTEX) -- Compaq Computer Japan and IBM Japan announced on December 12 that they will collaborate to sell and support IBM's WebSphere Family, a comprehensive e-business platform which provides a Web application server, development tools, portal service, and business integration service.
Under the agreement terms, the companies will open a WebSphere Innovation Center in Compaq's main office in Tokyo's Tennozu district in January 2002. The Tokyo station will be the second WebSphere center, after the Taiwan center, established by IBM Corp. in Asia. The new center will help corporate users and partner companies implement WebSphere products and services, as well as provide support.
In the companies' first collaboration, agreed to in December 2000, IBM Japan implemented MQSeries, a WebSphere messaging product, and WebSphere MQ Integrator, an EAI tool, on the Compaq NonStop Himalaya massively parallel fault-tolerant server. In this second agreement, the partners will comprehensively support WebSphere products to help customers develop e-commerce and enterprise information portal site systems.
