Hifn Samples Security Processors for Multi-Gigabit Network Applications
World's Fastest Packet Processing to Speed eCommerce and VPNs
LOS GATOS, Calif., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Network security and flow classification market leader Hifn(TM) (Nasdaq: HIFN - news) announced today that engineering samples of its high-performance security processors for multi-gigabit Virtual Private Network (VPN) and secure e-commerce applications are now being delivered to selected customers. Hifn announced the new HIPP II (Hifn Intelligent Packet Processing) family of security processors earlier this year, ushering in the world's fastest packet processing for network security applications that include encryption and public key techniques.

``We are the only vendor delivering multi-gigabit packet processing solutions today, not just promising them for the future'', says Doug Makishima, Hifn vice president of marketing. ``Hifn makes it possible for manufacturers of network security equipment such as VPN routers and SSL/TLS load balancers to attain the highest possible performance. Our security processors not only accelerate the security algorithms, but also offload the packet processing tasks that lead to CPU and system bus bottlenecks.''

Hifn introduced intelligent packet processing as part of its HIPP I and II family of products, with performance in the OC-12 to OC-48 full-duplex range and beyond. The benefits of implementing HIPP to obtain higher system performance are described in a white paper available from Hifn's web site at www.hifn.com.

``Our HIPP II security processors are being well received by our target customers,'' continued Makishima. ``All of the major carrier-class IP service switch vendors have designed in Hifn's HIPP II parts. Furthermore, we are able to provide the most complete solutions by developing key partnerships with industry leading network processor and security software vendors.''
