Maybe not corrupt, just a little hypocritical. He is willing to countenance expanded police powers up and down the line, indefinite detention without charge, willing to adopt secret military tribunals for non-citizens, who by the way are not specifically excluded from constitutional rights, limit the rules of evidence, wants to eavesdrop on lawyer-client conversations, claims that anyone who does not agree with him is giving aid and comfort to terrorists, but somehow cannot permit investigation into the gun purchases of suspected terrorists--for which he has been roundly criticized in editorials all over the country.

That may not be corrupt, but it isn't purism, either.
