Interesting statistics...everyone on that thread is a GREAT friend of mine, but strange that they're all White Caucasians...and they hold more or less the same political beliefs......kill kill kill. I don't see it as any different than 'them' saying "kill the infidels"....maybe I need to get my alignment redone...! LOL
Another message which comes across loud and clear is "If there is a choice, I would rather their innocents die than ours". Its been said so many times to me...over and over again. I find this line of thinking shocking, to say the least.....I doubt if any of my educated indian friends would make this statement and get away with it amongst friends, if not feel 'wrong' about feeling that way......for all the problems back home, i guess tolerances and compassion are inherent part of our lives...no ? I gave Alexander vs King Porus's example, <treat me like you would treat a king>. It fell on deaf ears.......just differences in personality and background I suppose....which is understandable i guess...
The war has brought home the cultural and philosophical divides in ways that nothing ever would...people are so different in different places....their psychological make up varies so...
I understand to an extent why the govt has such a screwed up foreign policy....! They go everywhere and kill everyone...! US is in a permanent state of war....all the time...and they will be, coz they never thinks beyond today....and people don't allow the govt to make peace...Ironically they are fighting for peace all the time...when really you don't need to fight at all......just let go of this obsession with being the superpower....and a military might....just mind its own bizz....
This morning I sent a note to a friend...and i quote...
"You know, the only thing I dread is that some crazy Indian politician will align itself to US politically...and India will suffer the same fate as did Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan and all the other countries US 'befriended' in Asia. Every time there is talk about "common interests" and "friendship" with India, my heart does a somersault of fright.......and thats not how it is supposed to be....is it ?" |
