it would be prudent for Intel to be doing this. They need to have something in reserve in case Itanium is DOA. Considering that ct reports that around 500 systems have been sold so far, it is a valid concern.

Realize though, an Intel X86-64 will not appear until Intel decides to pull the plug on Itanium. Because that is what will happen.
