Really? You think Israel tried to conquer parts of those countries? Do you remember the 5 days war when several of those same countries you mention attacked Israel unexpectedly and unprovoked only to be beaten back and crushed by Israel? Israel has a right to defend itself against its agressors. You may not like it that they do a great job of defending themselves, but then maybe if the Palestinians smartened up and realized that they are the small rodent and the Israelis the large gorilla, then they wouldn't provoke so much. If I was small in relation to someone I hated, I sure wouldn't start a war with them. I'd be smarter about it.
As far as a Palestinian state, I'm all for it. I think it is a tragedy that the U.S. hasn't been more of an advocate for it in the past. In fact, I also think it is a tragedy that the Israeli's are occupying the West Bank and the Gaza strip. However, Israel itself is recognized as a sovereign state by the U.N. with distinct boundaries. Those boundaries should be respected. What the Islamic Jihad, Hamas, and Hezbollah want is to push Israelis out of the Middle East altogether. That's the problem.
The only way to solve this issue is to truly create a Palestinian state, as well as organize a permanent withdrawal of Israel from the West Bank and Gaza, and in parallel wipe out organizations like the ones I mentioned above who resort to murder and suidice missions. They are no better than Nazis and need to be stopped. What worries me is that the hatred between the Jews and Arabs runs very deep. It is more than territorial, it is religious. Can those differences be solved? Islam dictates through the Qu'ran that the Jews are the enemy and people trying to convert Islamic people to Christianity should be murdered. How do we solve those types of problems? It is clear that no one in the Middle East remotely encourages religious tolerance like we do in the West, especially in America. Islam itself needs to underscore religious tolerance among its own people. Instead, you have these so called religious schools all over the Middle East that indoctrinate hatred of the U.S. and advocate the murder of innocent civilians as a means to an end.
