If there were no oil in Afghanistan, do you really think that the U.S. would not have gone to war after an attack on our home soil of the magnitude of September 11th?

of course they still would've gone after the terrorists, and i support it!! but that's not my point. if it weren't for oil, i guarantee you that we would not see a long drawn-out war (just wait, you'll see) and such an effort to "rebuild" afghanistan. i'm not saying that it isn't good to help afghanis get back on their feet, but where were we when afghanistan had suffered extensive damage (rubble), horrible drought, starvation, etc for decades after they helped to rid us of russia?? all i'm saying is that this is a golden opportunity for alterior motives...
