Flag Resources (1985) Limited Announces a Detailed Mineralogical Study To Be Done On Cobalt Hill, Mackelcan Township, Wanapitei Anomaly, Sudbury, Ontario
CALGARY, Dec. 13 /CNW/ - In her August 7, 2001 report to Flag Resources,
Dr. Eva Schandl, consulting geologist (and research associate at the
University of Toronto) said that in the Cobalt Hill area, north of Jones Lake,
Mackelcan Township, Sudbury, Ontario, the occurrence of fuchsite (Cr-rich
muscovite) in drill hole CH92-1 (logged by Robin Goad, Fortune Minerals Ltd.)
suggests a nearby mafic/ultramafic intrusion, and that the anomalous
concentration of Ni and Co (up to 3700 ppm and 6160 ppm, respectively) in the
brecciated Lorrain quartize implies possible mineralization at depth. It has
been previously reported that:

(a) The ubiquitous occurrence of fuchsite in late quartz veins of the
silicified and hydrothermally altered Lorrain quartzite in drill hole
CH92-I is in support of a mafic/ultramafic intrusion in the vicinity,
as Cr is a relatively immobile element, and is unlikely to move far
from its source during metamorphism
(b) Ni and Co were introduced to the pervasively altered and brecciated
Lorrain quartzite via hydrothermal fluids, and the metals were most
likely derived from a mineralized mafic/ultramafic intrusion.

Flag Resources has asked Dr. Eva Schandl to conduct a detailed
mineralogical study of selected sulfides and of the alteration zones
associated with brecciation and sulfide mineralization.
The mineralogical study could provide important information on the nature
of the hydrothermally derived sulfides and on the alteration most commonly
associated with these sulfides in the area. The study could help to identify
favorable exploration targets, as hydrothermal sulfides in the sediments are
believed to be the surface expressions of mineralized intrusions at depth.

Flag expects assay results to be available by the end of the week for
completed step-out drill holes, WL01-6,7,8,9 and 10, in the Campsite
Gold-Copper zone, Wolf Lake, Mackelcan Township.
Flag says drill holes WL01-11 and 12 are to be drilled 700 and 1000 feet
north of discovery drill hole WL83-28, in an I.P. anomaly.
