Neo, you're going to laugh when I tell you how I came up with that memo. A couple of years ago I signed up to be on a local Democrat email list just to see what they send out. And this morning I received an email entitled; "What's the fuss all about". Which had the Sims memo attached. Obviously, they are very concerned about the political fallout the memo has caused. I wonder if they will now remove me from their email list. LOL!
I responded as follows below. :)
The fuss is that Ron Sims treats his employees like idiots that can't be trusted to think for themselves. The fuss is that Ron Sims wants to *force* his politically correct censorship morality on every employee working for King County. The fuss is that if someone is so PC minded they find the words "Merry Christmas" offensive they should learn how to value diversity and accept other cultures traditions. The fuss is that this level of PC censorship seems to have no bounds. Will we in the future be required to remove all XMAS lights on city streets? Parks, and recreation areas so as not to *offend* someone. Are the Space Needle lights offensive now? The fuss is the constitution doesn't say "I have a right to never be offended". The fuss is Ron Sims has now wasted countless hours, first putting out the memo, and now in strategy sessions trying to find a way to defend this silly PC speech memo, instead of doing the many important jobs which need to be done. And lastly, the fuss is he has *offended* his work force, lowered morale, and caused a lot of discontent for no valid reason at all. No wonder we have such a difficult time hiring quality people to work for King County. Who the heck wants to work under such a cloud of PC concern every day? Can't we just enjoy the holidays, stroll our neighborhoods and marvel at the wonderful lights, and good will toward our fellow countrymen, without finding ways to divide us politically all the time? Just my ever so humble opinion |
