I guess I'm a little bit cynical because not only were several of my fairly young friends whisked into bypass surgery without being presented any other options but an elderly neighbor of mine stopped me on the street and told me her story of trying to keep doctors from doing a by-pass on her 84 year old husband who clearly wasn't in good enough health to survive such a major operation. They did one anyway, they wore her down. He died a week later after much unnecessary pain.
