Katherine,
I have thought about this layoff thing all day. Obviously it has helped the stock decline and save AD's arse in the process. Perhaps the last layoffs are always dumb but necessary for the stock price as the improving margins attest to in the beginnings of a recovery. Some bumps to be expected as they rehire. And as you point out, since the competitors are doing it, amat wouldnt want comparisons with them to point up weakness. Capitalism aint perfect but its all we got. mike
