The land area on the earth is not significantly changing. So if the part of that area covered by forest is not significantly changing the earth is not being deforested to any great extent.

I'm going to remember that logic the next time I gain ten pounds. After all, ten pounds is an infinitesimal amount compared to the total weight of the earth, so no worries.
