A little question John, where will we get all the hydrogen

Yah, that it is problem at this point. Electrolysis powered by.....solar cells (there's a test plant in....Japan, I think, that's doing this very thing - expensive, but doable). Perhaps wind? How about nuclear? (I know, I know). Perhaps "cracked" from other sources like methane, etc.? There are a few problems, but to my mind how much more difficult are these problems than what the petroleum industry confronted in the early 1900's when they started building the infrastructure still in use today?

Part of the difficulty alternative power generation has is in the Federal subsidies that are veiling the true cost of domestic petroleum production. See this: evworld.com If the Fed's were to level the playing field I bet you'd see a remarkable move towards alternative power production/storage/transport/etc.

To my mind it comes down to a question of national will combined with the recognition that what we're using now (petroleum) is finite in size and we're real close to being on the downward slope of that supply curve. Bush really should rally the nation with a JFK "Hail Mary" moon-shot styled program.

In the long run it'd mean a future secure for future Americans. And isn't that what the government is suppose to be about? All right...all right...I'll get down off my soap-box. Besides...I've got a date with a Goddess....so excuse me while I exit stage right.....
