i just noticed that for some reason it is impossible to get the link to work. i'm going to put the chart on my own web site over the weekend and link it again. however, i can tell you the long bond lost a cool 35% of its value between the 1928 peak and the 1932 crash low. there was a 'flight to quality' period right after the stock market crash of '29, but it didn't last long.

there is good reason to suspect that we won't see an exact repetition, however there remain a few worries as well. it will all hinge on the dollar i fear, as well as the extent and depth of the economic downturn.

more on this tomorrow, it's rather late in my neck of the woods now...
