I wasn't making an analogy between nuking a city and killing an embryo (even though I consider both to be wrong) but rather between nuking a city and infanticide or raising a clone for spare parts. The stem cell treatments that involve killing embryos would be an alternate (like bombing the city with conventional explosives) which some would see as ok and some would see as wrong.

So the point is in the analogy that I wish people would be against nuking the city whether or not conventional bombing would be effective. Or to say it directly rather then with an analogy, whether or not stem cell treatments work and whether or not they are considered morally/ethicaly acceptable, people should pull back from creating a person from spare parts or committing infanticide. The slippery slope seems to be heading in that way and I wouldn't want it to go in that direction even if I was a supporter of all the possible stem cell treatments. I don't want people to only avoid such horrors if they can find an alternative.
