On data backup: People like fancy places. Easy to access. Closer to some nice spot for a beer after works and so on. But these are not exactly the safest data warehouse.

I was this week making a comparision of cost effectiveness of all data media. As you know when you research that type of stuff you end up thinking about ideas on how this will develop and such.

I came to the idea of uploading (literally) my data to a geostationary satellite back up system. So that if anyone would hammer my ground facilities where it would be, I could have my back up system on space.
Lockheed could offer such service for a fee. If they do it they don't even have to pay me a fee to devise the idea for them.

Now I acted as a terrorist and knocked down the earth station which served as control point. No problemo: My data provider would roll a new one back truck with a contaner on top complete with genset.

So, people could safely worked in the nicest place since the data would be up there.

And only another gov entity could jam or destroy the satellite data safekeeping in orbit. There are not many gov with such capabilities.
