I don't think so. Powell and Zinni are untouchable right now. I think the failure tarnishes Arafat more than anyone else. In fact, I don't think the old survivor Arafat will survive this one. He'll be out of power before you know it. The U.S. is fet up with him and his failure to bring anything tangible to that region. It's open season on the Palestinian terror organizations now. What the Palestinians need now is a very powerful figure who can go in and brutally crush any independent organizations that unilaterally engage the Israelis. That person will have to first and foremost tame his own people, the Palestinians. Then he can come to the negotiating table from a position of strength and the Israelis will know that he can back up any agreement he makes. Arafat has been a failure for years and it's time for him to step down.
