You know you're in a bad hotel when . . .
Houston resort's service failure posted on Net for all to see

Jill Vardy
Financial Post

OTTAWA - Management at a Houston hotel has been flamed from five continents after a Powerpoint presentation from two disgruntled guests of the hotel became one the hottest pages on the Internet.

The file, entitled "You Have a Very Bad Hotel", has been e-mailed to tens of thousands of people around the world. It is what the authors call "a graphic complaint" prepared for the managers of the DoubleTree Club Hotel in Houston.

In it, businessmen Tom Farmer and Shane Atchison, of Seattle, lay out in excruciating detail their failure to get a reserved room at the hotel in the early hours of Nov. 15.

The pair say their room was guaranteed for late arrival with a major credit card, but when they arrived at the hotel, no room was available.

The presentation contains quotes from the insolent desk clerk, dubbed "Night Clerk Mike," a dictionary definition of the word "guarantee", a chart plotting Night Clerk Mike's career, and a table that illustrates the likelihood of the two returning to the Houston hotel (slightly below the chance of Earth being ejected from the solar system by the gravitational pull of a passing star).
