Anecdotal I know but, an interesting night tonight... I was @ Christmas party with a number of the guests who where in the medical profession (principally Dentistry)
So I was seated beside this chap, who asked me where I was & what I was doing on September 11th. Naturally, I replied, that I had MSNBC in the background & was checking stops on my various positions. Until I saw the disturbing footage of WTC...
When he found out that I was an active trader, we started yapping about various tech stocks, symbols, yada yada yada
Well, I thought that I found a fellow compatriot. He told me that he was once fabulously wealthy on paper (just 16 months ago), & that as soon as his tech stocks go back up, he will buy either a building or a Rolls Royce. Naturally being curious, I asked him what techies he owned... CSCO, INTC, LU, CMGI, GX ....
Well I won't repeat the full conversation...but when I told him I played the tech rally in April... He asked me what rally was that-- He said " Are you sure you don't mean the recent rally...in September? It is the start of a new bull market you know"
I told him that I didn't play the September tech rally that well, & that yes that I agreed with him that we are on the cusp of a new bull market... but in GOLD. He asked me "why Gold?"
As soon as I gave him my reasons, he quickly quaffed his drink, & walked away from me without saying another word.
I later found out that he is a bag holder for INTC, NT, CSCO, ARBA, CMGI, GX, etc.
Ignorance is bliss... until reality sets in
