I used a 3com internal modem.
According to the SBC technicians, fax machines will not operate on a DSL line. Also, filters, included with the Alcatel modem package, were attached to all of my telephone outlets. I could not send faxes, and faxes could not be received (and the sender could not understand why). Furthermore, as I have already stated, Symantec stated to me that their fax software will not function over a DSL line.
Perhaps we should all gain more knowledge as to the capabilities of DSL. I would be great to have SBC and Verizon provide information about the nature of their DSL cancellations.
Also as I have stated previously, when DSL worked for high-speed internet access, it worked great. When it did not work well, it was a royal pain!!!!! I will wait for the next generation of DSL, if there such thing, look at cable, or merely rely upon my 56k access. 56k, while obviously slower than DSL, at least it works, and works consistently well!
I know that Alcatel is disposing of their DSL modem business, Alcatel should not rely upon providing DSL infrastructure for revenue and profit growth. |
