Conexant (CNXT) said it has agreed to merge its wireless business with Alpha Industries (AHAA: news, chart, profile), creating a company with a combined value of approximately $3 billion. Conexant will own 67 percent of the merged company's shares, and Alpha will own 33 percent. As part of the agreement, the new company will buy Conexant's semiconductor assembly, module manufacturing and test facility in Mexicali, Mexico for $150 million in cash. Conexant's stock closed Friday up 9 cents at $15.86 and Alpha slipped 38 cents to $21.20. Separately, Conexant said fiscal first quarter revenue to increase 10 percent sequentially to approximately $221.1 million due to the stronger-than-expected performance by its wireless division. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial/First Call had been expecting revenue of $211.8 million.
