Dr. Mike, Q39 and others.
I actually have ridden on a Aprilla SR50 but not the Ditech. However the dealer said that the performance was much the same except for the milage and the emissions. My opinion is that from a US point of view it is very under powered. To get good performance from a scooter you need something in the range of 125cc +. I used to own a Lambretta scooter and it had a 150cc engine and they later produced a 200cc engine. However, the power factor in Europe and Asia is completely different from the requirements for the US market, and IMO the SR50 will not sell in the US in any quantity.
As to when OE could show a profit..... this is a crap shoot, there is no doubt that some progress has been made in the last year, but their expenses have also risen and given my well known opinion on management, I do not see a profit in the near term future. I do not think that we will break even this year, so I would sum it all up this way. If we get an auto deal we will make money, without it all the other businesses will just keep the company going and most importantly will ensure that management pay check do not bounce.
