George,
Since I'm a dumb Texan, I don't know much history of Canadian stocks. My first foray into Canadian issues was early this year with NCN, ERF and PWI. Fortunately I have a great return IN the bank on NCN and ERF by trading them. Unfortunately, I held PWI and added to the position a few weeks ago. Even with the welfare checks from PWI, I'm in the red. The biggest problem I have with PWI is misleading statements. The first statement was made in early Fall regarding an expected payout of .22 until the end of this year. The second misstep was an email and also a phone call to IR that stated they had less than 1% exposure to Enron, which changed to 5% the very next day. Is this standard operating preceedure for Canadian companies? I hope not. I'm going to hold AVN hoping that their distributions will not fall off a cliff too.
As far as purchasing anymore oil and gas trust at this time, I agree with you that patience will be rewarded. We are sitting around 3.1tcf of NG in storage. Even with a severe winter from here on out, we will exit winter with storage levels at all time highs. Henry Hub NG was trading around 1.80 and probably will get even worse.
