Sorry about the fixed font, only way to make a table.

Neil Mack,
All I could find on Skoda, didn't look very intense tho, most
references were to auto production.
"Since the second part of the 19th century the region's development
has been influenced by the expansion of heavy industry, which
concentrated mainly in the Nyrany Basin. Being found as a small
machine shop in 1859, the local Skoda Works soon expanded into the
largest engineering enterprise in the Austro-Hungarian Empire."

For the rest,
This was also included in the email, not bad.

What is Short Run Color?
Short-run color is a term used to describe printing full-color
material in quantities ranging anywhere from one to 1,000. It also
describes a market that has remained beyond the reach of traditional
offset presses because these systems cannot economically produce
output when a job is this small. This is due to the extensive work
that must be done to prepare for a production run on an offset press.
While the front end of publishing has undergone vast changes over the
past decade with the evolution of personal computers, the back
end--the output end--has lagged behind.

Traditional Offset Press
Production on a traditional offset press means that for any given job,
there is a relatively large fixed cost that must be spread out among
the printed pieces. To make any full-color print job economically
feasible, it is necessary to print relatively large quantities so that
the large fixed cost can be distributed among many print impressions,
reducing the unit cost of each piece.

Digital Press Technology
Short-run color has gained widespread attention over the past year or
so with the introduction of a number of digital color printing
systems. The breakthrough technology used in these new systems finally
makes short-run color jobs both feasible and economical. Short-run
color jobs printed on a digital press are more economical because many
of the labor-intensive tasks and costs involved with offset production
simply do not exist.

Significance of the Digital Press
The digital press is a significant technological development for the
short-run color printing market because it drastically reduces the
costs involved with printing in full color. Items that have until now
been printed in black and white because the job size was relatively
small--under 1000 copies--will become part of the short-run color
market because of the digital press cost advantage. As mentioned
earlier, the traditional offset color printing process has many cost
components--fixed costs--that simply do not exist in the digital
printing process. These fixed costs include costs related to:
* Proof printing
* Plate creation
* Press cleaning
* Ink balancing adjustments
* Color film separations
* Plate mounting
* Press registration and alignment
Because of this large fixed cost, small jobs are extremely expensive
to produce, and this cost disadvantage has prevented a large segment
of the printing market from using full color.

The breakthrough technology offered by the Indigo E-Print 1000 digital
offset color printing press eliminates the enormous fixed costs
associated with traditional offset color printing. With these costs
removed, color printing is now a viable option for relatively small
jobs, and Digital Page is pleased to offer this service.

Looks like I'll miss the open today, late one today.
