Coherent announces new consortium Conferencing System
Business Wire - June 30, 1997 07:04
LEESBURG, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1997--Coherent Communications Systems Corporation(TM)(NASDAQ:CCSC) of Leesburg, Virginia launched a major new release of its Consortium Conferencing System today at the ITCA show in Washington, DC. Consortium 3.0 is an advanced telephone conferencing system that supports multiple conferences simultaneously, provides remote scheduling of conferences from any location via phone, and eliminates the need to rely on expensive outside service bureaus for conferencing support.
Every company that communicates regularly with people in multiple locations - whether they are employees, business partners, vendors or customers--needs a reliable, flexible conferencing system that allows them to set up meetings fast to capitalize on opportunities quickly. Because of the flexibility, security and substantial cost savings provided by in-house conference systems like the Consortium, more and more businesses are choosing to own this critical piece of equipment. The Coherent's Consortium Conference System provides efficient, secure, multi-location conferencing through a highly automated, user-friendly platform.
The system supports 2 to 96 participants in a single conference or in multiple conferences, and its modular design is easily expanded, so ports can be added as you need them. Consortium operates on an easy-to-use platform that is compatible with most telephone and PBX systems. Its highly rated graphical user interface (GUI) and touch tone controls make the system intuitive to use for both participants and conference administrators. Conferences can be totally automated, with each caller gaining access to the correct conference by entering a unique conference code and/or Personal Identification Number (PIN) code, eliminating the need for an attendant or operator. And with Coherent's industry-leading digital echo cancellation and line equalization/gain control at each port, the full duplex audio is clear, even if all participants speak simultaneously.
Conference participants can easily interact with the Consortium from virtually anywhere - obtaining scheduling information and setting up conferences from their desktop PCs while in the office or from their laptops while they are on the road. They can participate in the conference from any touch tone phone. In addition, the system can notify participants via e-mail with all conference details, including the subject, date, time and other participants who have been invited to the conference. Relevant meeting documents can be attached to the conference notification message. Conferences can be scheduled, times reserved and management functions accessed through a company's local area network, a corporate Intranet or via the Internet.
The Consortium is a comprehensive meeting management platform with a high level of investment protection. Coherent's hardware and software platform will support future data conferencing capabilities, such as T.120 data collaboration, interactive whiteboard collaboration and application sharing. The platform approach and wide range of software upgrades will protect a customer's investment by allowing them to participate in future technology advancements at minimal additional cost.
