Slider, I'm man enough to admit it when you're right. I started out with $10,000 in money I got from a phoney slip and fall case that a friend of mine helped me out with. (A nameless friend if you know what I mean) That was at Naz 4500 and I went in with both feet on a margin account. They let me margin to 40% cash which seemed like a good thing when I made $50 the first week.
When that puppy started to drop, I had to sell some of my internets but the price got so cheap I mortgaged the house and made the big plunge at naz 4000 with another $20,000 in cash. I margined that also and it didn't work out to well. I dropped to $1,500 in equity and I had that big honking mortgage to deal with too. That's why I burned down the house. I didn't get much out of it but at least I got rid of the payment. I also got rid of the dog food bill. Ole Sparkey went in after one of the hamsters and never made it out. Damn that hamster, if it wasn't for him Sparky would still be here with me. I could use that wet tongue of his to clean off my hands in the camp when I run out of water, but then I get ahead of myself.
I knew that $1,500 wasn't enough equity to get back my 30k so I robbed a couple of liquor stores and got another $500 dollars and good supply of cheap wine. Things turned up immediately. I used all that I had learned and invested in oil stocks. I was a big man then. I posted a lot on SI when someone gave me a free subscription. I held onto those oils all the way from osx 145 on down to osx 50. Unfortunately I also mortgaged mom's house during that period. Mom's 95 so it's a little hard on her to get wood for the fire and do the wash by hand in the winter but what the hell, spring's a short 4-5 months away and if she makes it I can't wait to see the look of joy on that wrinkled old face of hers.
I finally got tired of stocks that just went down slowly and I was running out of the wine from the liquor store heists. Suddenly life didn't seem as good as it seemed there for a while. That's when I started putting my money in those rocket rides like enron with a little in haliburton just for safekeeping for wine money. Maybe I should have been a little more careful but I was only down 400k and I was in a hurry to make it back so I could get a new dog and also a warm jacket for mom. I always put mom first, ahead of myself even and that's a fact.
Well, the rest is history and I'm here to tell you and also those that think that you're full of hot air, that it happens all the time. Every once in while JQP, Dabum or Kodiak come by the camp and hit up on mom. I have to drive them off with a stick and yell at them to get their own girl. Those ungrateful dogs, they forget that I shared a lot of stock tips with them and now they're trying to take mom away for camp help. I laugh out loud when I see them out gathering their own wood and breaking the ice to do their own wash down at the creek.
I've still got $12.85 in my account and if I had a computer I would check it once in a while. I'm still in the game and I tell mom that it's only a matter of time. Unfortunately, mom may not have much time left. I'm thinking of making another withdrawal from the local liquor bank. If you have any good tips let me know. Not those gold tips, something good, huh?
