OT: Capital Report on CNBC Just finished listening to one of those retired generals (in this case, USAF Maj.Gen. Perry Smith) talking about how our limited, focused campaign in Afghanistan, with its emphasis on Special Forces with heavy air support, would serve as a model for an invasion of Iraq. In listening to him talk about "asymmetrical forces, etc., etc.," his comments were (to me) quite glib and chilling. The human cost of waging a large scale war against Iraq seemed to be lost amongst the "X's and O's". The segment brought back bad memories of Gen. Westmoreland giving his "briefings" on the success of the war effort in Viet Nam; the horrendous casualties and shattered lives were a mere afterthought.
