stockman,
what i really really like about W is that he talks like me. he answers questions direct and to the point using vocabulary that i understand without a dictionary.

when presented with a yes or no question...he first says..yes or no.

when giving a presentation, he is straight forward...even a bit awkward at times, i like that...everything is not scripted, memorized and rehearsed. so many speak fast...but without thought or emotion because it is a memorized piece. W ain't afraid to pause, think and then tell you where he really is on an issue.

i am sure the hahvard and oxford boys enjoy dancing and prancing around with their big worded criticisms...but by God we have a man in charge..not a fabricated plasticman.

i really like his choice of bride too. i am also married to a former elementary schoolteacher. i can tell you they have more common sense and a greater understanding and empathy for the human psyche and our frailties than any other group of women i know. her respect, admiration and love for him is clear in every step they take together. i like that because i know schoolteachers are so so insightful.

the world's problems are much too vast for any one man to stay on top of every detail, nuance and leaders' position. the USA needs teams. big teams. a well-balanced mix of teams all with excellent leaders.

W's job is not to be on top of every little detail of world terrorism. his job is too make sure America has the right teams...that the teams have the right leaders and equipment and then to guide those teams to a solution. so far he has done that craftily, and with awesome results. i believe most Americans are very pleased with his job performance and no Americans are totally displeased.

the liberal media is struggling to nail him...but they have their own problems now.

finally America is becoming weary of reporters' inaccuracies...the sensational embellishment of news and outright lies are less and less acceptable. you can see this clearly on CNN...ted turner kissed the previous administration's butt for 8 years...the tailwind story in 1998 was like the final straw...cnn stalled but eventually they fired 2 top producers (oliver and smith) and their top war reporter (arnett)...but it was too little too late...more important for military folks was when their top retired military advisor told the chairman to take this job and shove it...because he refused to clear the situation up with an immediate retraction...cnn ratings have been tanking ever since.
cnn folks are in a panic now. it is so evident that they are attempting to change their image with a new military spokesman everyday. kinda funny to watch the scramble...even funnier to see it isn't working as the polls show cnn continuing to tank...and we get more and more stories of turner in the news room directing the action personally...in a vain attempt to patch things up...i wonder if he even has a clue yet that honesty and integrity really do count.

a little side story is cnn offering money to military guys after the fiasco...they settled with a former chairman, joint chiefs and i believe a few others...Special Forces and Special Forces Assn have refused money...continuing to demand an equal amount of time to air the true story. SFA has already made the decision that if any money does come from this from any source it will be distributed to SF charities. i have this little feeling that cnn does not care too much about SF charities.

and it is not just cnn...the boston globe is still smarting from firing their pulitzer prize nominee, pattie smith, for a series of four phony articles. the new republic has not recovered from one of their editor's publishing over 25 phony stories about PC hackers. and time still claims to have been victimized by cnn about tailwind....that is a joke since time owned cnn when the story was done...it will be interesting to see what fox does with geraldo if the story about his claiming to be reporting from one location when he was actually 200 miles away turns out to be true.

about the only believable guy cnn has left is blitzer and he is on nearly 24/7 right now...that cannot keep up for long.

the critique writing ragazine writers are too tiring and they get too many details wrong to get any serious consideration.

but even as the bs networks lose face...decent reporting is available and more and more folks are recognizing it...guys like jim lehrer and the newshour are the winners. his audience is approaching 10 million every week and growing.

we need both honest decent leadership and honest decent reporting to change the world...Americans may finally get both.
