Apparently Micron wants to continue to be a major commodity producer of DRAM or SRAM chips. Given the competition from Korea and other low labor cost areas, one has to assume that Micron got this new plant at a huge discount from cost.

How does this affect SanDisk? At the very least, it means that SanDisk has just lost an asset, meaning that its balance sheet won't look as good, and a one-time cost will once again have to be recorded against earnings.
