BELLINGHAM, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2001--Integral Technologies, Inc. ITKG INTEGRAL announces that ORBCOMM Global, LP (ORBCOMM) (www.orbcomm.com) has recently advised INTEGRAL, that ORBCOMM'S sales projections call for the addition of in excess of 75,000 new subscribers over the next 18 months.
INTEGRAL was appointed a business partner of ORBCOMM in November 2000, as the primary supplier of its GPS/LEO antenna to ORBCOMM customers for use in tracking mobile assets. INTEGRAL'S GPS/LEO antenna, ranges in price from $79.00 to $149.00 depending upon the application and quantity.
The ORBCOMM satellite communications system provides low-cost two-way data communication services using 35 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. ORBCOMM applications currently being commercialized in approximately 120 countries around the world include tracking of mobile assets such as trailers, containers, locomotives, rail cars, heavy equipment, fishing vessels, barges and government assets; monitoring of fixed assets such as electric utility meters, oil and gas storage tanks, wells and pipelines and environmental projects; and messaging services for consumers and commercial and government entities. The system utilizes the advantages that satellite communications has over land-based communication media, such as enabling communication with mountainous regions or remote islands, and is used for special fields, including the remote supervision of machinery and for tracking of ships.
INTEGRAL is also working with ORBCOMM in the development of a moldable antenna made of INTEGRAL'S new composite material, to be used in the tracking of container trailer chassis and the containers themselves.
In a recent letter to William Robinson, Chairman of INTEGRAL, Mr. James Eagan, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Distribution for ORBCOMM stated that, "ORBCOMM has received keen interest in the proposed chassis tracking solution provided to an international shipping company. The missing element has been the antenna. INTEGRAL'S new antenna allows us to enter into this new market for the first time. We have a pilot scheduled with the chassis owner for January 2002."
