The region is not unstable because the US supports Israel. It is unstable because the Arabs in the region want to kick all Jews out of the Middle East. The US doesn't support Israel just for the hell of it. We support them in part to keep the balance of power in the Middle East but also in part because of the debt the world owes the Jews for not coming to their aid in time to prevent so many millions getting slaughtered in WWII by the Nazis. The U.S. will never abandon the Israelis.

So the Arabs in the region have a choice. They can continue to beat their heads against the wall wishing for the impossible or they can concede that trying to rid the Middle East of the Jews is a losing proposition. When they concede that, then peace will be possible. Until then, the big losers will always be the Arabs and Palestinians simply because they are the underdog. Do you believe in Darwinism? I do. Stupidity gets culled from the gene pool eventually. Pick a fight with someone larger and more powerful than you and more than likely you've written your own end. That's what's happening here.
