I only wish I could agree with you on the "were here" part. Unfortunately, three of those on your list are still here, still doing damage.
The Democrats are exposed for the louses they are by an article one will never read in the "mainstream" media. I certainly hope that the Democrat's strategy blows up in their collective faces.
WHO ARE THEY FOOLING?
DEMOCRATS SHOW THEIR TRUE COLOR
By: Elysian Hunter
Of course the far left wing of the Democratic party can only boast of displaying the color Commie red or perhaps shades of pink- fuchsia comes to mind- for certain of them who happen to be light in the loafers. You can call a shovel an ice-cream machine and it remains a shovel- or call a far left Democrat a "progressive" or "liberal," yet a Marxist is a Marxist no matter what you call it. Cravenly partisan and just as anti- American as ever, the so-called majority leader of the Senate is still hanging up on the President's judicial nominees and on economic stimulus plans. Heaven forbid we actually have judges appointed who uphold the law and believe in punishing criminals. Far be it from the "Mole" to support any kind of meaningful tax relief and/or incentives for business that will benefit the economy. What Daschle wants, along with more criminals on the streets, are more of the failed pork-filled gimmies that only serve to keep people enslaved to handouts and disinclined to return to work instead of promoting incentives that will help create jobs and enable businesses and individuals to keep more of the money they earn. This is classic Marxism- redistribution of wealth resulting in a declining standard of mediocrity for all. Then again, Daschle's objectives have nothing to do with "doing the work of the American people." His objectives are: a. Anything to thwart the President's objectives, mostly out of spite and revenge, and b. Make himself look good in the process, while c. Destroying the economy or making it appear to be in a worse condition than it really is, enabling Democrats to blame the Administration, and thus, gain more seats in Congress next year. Fortunately for the rest of us, his trickery appears to be backfiring.
What we are seeing from the Democrats, in their quest to cast the Bush presidency as "bad for the economy" and "dangerous to civil liberties" are their own shortcomings and failings. Most of us would agree that the war on terrorism and worries about the economy should not be used as an excuse to promote unnecessary pork projects. Yet the Constitution is clear regarding the primary function of the federal government which is national defense. This means government's raison d' etre is domestic security, not social engineering or the redistribution of wealth. All other aims of government are secondary. In this light the Bush administration's policies- including Attorney General Ashcroft's plan for military tribunals for non-citizens accused of terrorist acts are far more sensible than the Democrats' designs for the civilian criminal justice system to prosecute such crimes. The publicity surrounding civilian criminal trials presents a security risk to the facilities and surrounding areas, notwithstanding a clear and present danger to the judge and jury presented by terrorist groups. What juror would not consider the threat to himself of his family if he voted to convict a terrorist? The issue that terrorists may use the leniency of our courts against us- the democratic process used to defeat it- is a real possibility. It often takes years to convict a confessed murderer in civilian courts, not to mention the (often taxpayer) expense in legal fees. Military tribunals are conducted in relative secrecy, evidence is presented in a timely manner, and verdicts are handed down quickly. Our military justice is far more lenient than the justice systems in most Islamic countries- places in which alleged adulterers are killed by stoning and limbs are removed for acts of theft. Are the Democrats more interested in preserving trial lawyers' potential sources of revenue than in national security? Or do they value the "civil liberties" of non-citizens who are accused terrorists more than those of citizens?
Democrat idiocy is further brought to light in their attempts to use the current crises to justify another trip to the pork barrel. While spending is necessary for the war effort, increased spending for social engineering and unnecessary government expansion and gimmie projects are especially inappropriate at this time. So are tax increases that would burden the economy further- yet this is what the Democrats want. More unemployment benefits, they cry- which really translates into more people beholden to government, instead of deregulation and incentives for business that would create more job opportunities and more participation in the private sector. Fortunately, for now, socialist issues such as nationalized health care and nebulous programs for education have taken the back burner. The unfortunate aspect of this situation is the Democrats aren't going to let them fall by the wayside easily.
We have gotten to witness what the Democrats are behind the facade. The best analogy for today's Democratic party is that of the Emperor's new clothes. They think they are draped in finery, that they can hide their Marxist ideology behind grandiose pronouncements proclaiming they "feel our pain" and are "fighting for the common man" but the crises of the past three months have exposed their naked Marxist designs, and that vision is not a pretty one. Though the concepts the far left champions are just as revolting as the thought of Ted Kennedy sporting nothing but a Speedo, many of the ideas Democrats hold dear- socialism, PC, entitlements and gimmies are rightfully under fire, and at long last, their motives are under scrutiny as never before.
One of the slogans of the 1960's radicals was "Question Authority." Now the 60's radicals fancy themselves to be the authorities and no longer wish their motives or actions to be questioned. The Clinton administration showed us our need to question, and as more of their cesspool of lies is illuminated, will continue to show us that the cost of apathy is unjustifiably high. Conservatives are the ones who should be questioning authority, especially since we are the ones paying for it. Our form of government is not the enemy, nor is our military. The enemy within are those who wish to curtail our freedoms, destroy individual initiative and enslave millions to the dead end of the gimmie. Question those who wish to enact policies that achieve those aims- and show your displeasure not only at the polls but also through word of mouth, correspondence and any other means at your disposal as long as they are legal and sane. This is hard for Conservatives to do for many reasons, yet as liberties erode and the money you earn is eaten away in taxes to pay for the erosion of such liberties activism becomes imperative.
As more and more Americans voice their distrust and disgust with left-leaning mainstream media, questioning authority or those who claim to be authorities is becoming more prevalent. The status quo isn't good enough. In the past forty years Democrats have waged war on poverty. Translation- trillions of dollars, tax money we have paid, spent supposedly to alleviate poverty have been to no avail. Just as many Americans are living in poverty now as in the time before the age of the gimmie. But a certain oligarchy has become fat on these tax dollars- social engineers, certain members of academia and other proponents of "social justice." The poverty pimps and race baiters such as Jesse Jackson and his ilk have benefitted from the "war on poverty" but how many of the poor have? Can we consider them "cured" of poverty because they don't have to work, namely because they have never been taught a marketable skill and haven't taken initiative to learn one, but they get free health care and all the government cheese they can eat? How can this spending- to keep millions ignorant and in poverty- continue to be justified? During the Clinton administration especially, the state of our military and intelligence- remember national defense is Constitutionally sanctioned and an investment well justified- declined to a pitiful state and may have set the stage for the terrorist attacks of 9-11. The failure of social engineering and the shameful decline of the military are reasons enough to denounce the far left and its designs, without the added curse brought on by those who clamor for special rights and PC censorship of views that counter the socialist ideal.
We as Conservatives may have differences even within the Republican party- especially with the RINO's or Republican In Name Only types who are left-leaning but claim to be Republican for political expediency. The RINO's are worse than Democrats in that they try to hide their leanings under a vermeer of legitimacy. These types need exposure too- to weed this influence out of the Republican party. Only by making informed choices - questioning authority- and looking beyond the label can we assure that we don't support the Marxist cause inadvertently through support of RINO's.
The Dems are going to continue to look for new clothes. It's so easy for people to forget that Congressional Democrats are a rather unsavory group. Teddy Kennedy and Gary Condit have gotten away with murder. Hillary has gotten way with defending and covering up for murderers, embezzlement and various power grabs, and that was before she became a Senator. And these are only the ones we know a little bit about. It seems Queen Hillary at least has had another makeover, but no amount of designer clothing, manicures, makeup or trendy hairstyles can cover up the fact that she is an unabashed, unreformed Marxist. Despite Hillary's new clothes (more of those god-awful pantsuits, but then if I had fat calves like hers I'd forgo dresses too) she is still parading her naked Marxist views. But seeing far left Democrats in their nakedness, no matter how revolting, is enlightening, as is questioning and refuting their policies and motives. Now is the time for us to keep shining the light on the failure of the far left's policies, because their true color is shining through: Candy-apple, Commie red.
