The consolidation in the gold production business that we are seeing now means gold prices are about to turn around. The Newmont deal is a big red flag. Also Placer and Homestake. Once these giants start to take root, it will be the same as we've seen in other sectors. ( Oil, for example) These big companies will increase their own profit margins by controlling the flow / movement of gold. Hedging will be a thing of the past.

This has to be a welcomed change in the gold sector. It has been down for a good long while and aside from the short lived erections, it has traded in the same range. There is probably no surer way to get the gold price up, than to have this consolidation process play out, and then watch the forces at work.

Happy New Year!
