LTK007: Regarding ATML

Recent analyst thoughts:

1. 7/12 Morgan Stanley downgrades to NEUTRAL following earnings warning, citing weaker demand and escalating pricing pressures in next couple of quarters.

2. 8/7: CSFB downgrades to HOLD from BUY (along with 9 other chip stocks), as part of a general downgrade of the chip sector.

3. 12/10: Merrill Lynch downgrades to NEUTRAL from BUY, citing high valuations and less aggressive cost-cutting efforts.

4. 12/20: Prudential on Semis: called ATML, AXTI, and ATXT their best turnaround ideas. It was NOT included in its "best 12-month ideas" in the chip sector, however.

FWIW, ATML always seemed to be mentioned positively by the SSB chip analysts with regard to its management team. I doubt there is anything "fishy" (accounting irregularities, etc.) here.

Nevertheless, caveat emptor.
