I saw a demo of Tru-Voice and was quite impressed. It may not be a huge moneymaker, but I think it has a lot of potential in the right hands. Granted, the "right hands" may not be Centigram, which looks like it wants to focus on its core business. I believe Microsoft liked it enough to license the product.

I am a bit disappointed that they are giving it up outright for 5 million dollars. It looks like if Centigram wants to use the product in the future, they have to license it from LHSPF.

I guess one way of looking at it is CGRM gets 5 million dollars in shares of LHSPF. So if this company, which apparently specializes in TTS technology, can run with this product, CGRM will share in their success. I guess this is one way to get Tru-Voice in the "right hands" to really try and make this product profitable. It would have been nicer if CGRM could participate more (financially) from Tru-Voice's success, but LHSPF may not have wanted it any other way.

I would have preferred royalty payements from LHSPF.

Let's hope this is not akin to IBM giving way the OS to Microsoft and chips to Intel :-)
