I do remain doubtful that the Israeli's are using all their smarts into a peaceful resolution of the conflict. There is no doubt most of them would like an end to this war.

Yes, the Israelis would like an end to this war. But Left, Right, and Center (apart from the remnants of dwindling Peace Camp), I think they have become convinced, for good reason, that Yasser Arafat is just not a man you can do business with. Anymore than you could negotiate with Mullah Omar. So where does that leave them? Trying to instill the belief in the Palestinians that "My will to stay here is greater than your will to kill me."

It's my belief that the majority of the Palestinian population would also like the conflict resolved on an equal honorable basis. I may be wrong..I have an open mind on this matter.

Unfortunately, the evidence is against that proposition. The majority of the Palestinians still support suicide bombings against civilians...you really have no idea of the hatred and incitement that they have grown up with, and of course the very real suffering of the intifada has hardened all positions. The more intelligent and educated people have all left the country.
