AMD cannot counter the Northwood + DDR until Hammer which is at least 9 months off. Performance will be close but the higher Mhz will dictate pricing. If Intel could sell a Willy with DDR and make money, surely they can sell the Northwood smaller die and make even more money.

AMD should survive and their stock may even go up a little if the market does but losing the Mhz crown will make it hard on them. Q1 will likely hurt more for AMD than Intel as Intel finally unshackles themselves from SDRAM (I suspect some boxes will still use SDRAM until DDR production gets up) and RAMBUS...plus the shrink.

The time to by AMD will be when the release of the Hammer becomes evident.
