If you take those things into account companies like QCOM, MSFT, etc. are extremely overpriced.

I disagree. It is of course true that if you roll all that proforma crap into earnings stocks like QCOM will look more expensive, but so will the rest of them. The market is not just about PE ratios. It's about relative valuations and performance. If everyone adopts the same rules nothing will change. JMO
