Seoul shares end down as telcos, chipmakers fall

SEOUL, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Seoul shares ended sharply lower on Friday as investors shunned telecom and semiconductor shares, disappointed by Wall Street's decline and poor chip-related data.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) <.KS11> lost 2.98 percent, or 19.80 points, to close at 644.71.

It fell three percent this week.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd <05930.KS> and SK Telecom Co

<17670.KS>, the board's two largest firms, led the market lower, tracking U.S. peers.

Electronics giant Samsung fell 5.09 percent to 251,500 won

($194.90) and top mobile carrier SK lost 4.4 percent to 249,500 won.

Tech-heavy Kosdaq over-the-counter declined 2.02 percent to finish at 68.43.

It lost 7.5 percent this week.
