Brings High-Tech to Adult Luxury-Living Complex

BURLINGTON, ON, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ - NEXUS Group International Inc.'s (TSE:NXS) AcSys Biometrics Corp. and Graphco Technologies (G-TEC(R)) partner to bring futuristic security and access control systems to The Manor at Yorktown, in Bucks County Pennsylvania.

This $800,000 project allows twenty-four hour security to be achieved at the complex through G-TEC's proprietary voice technology and AcSys Biometrics' Face Recognition System (FRS) application. Apartment doors open when a resident simply states any phrase through VoicePass(R), G-TEC's speaker identification program. FaceTrac(R), integrating AcSys FRS facial recognition software, adds a further layer of security. The biometric data and the digital images for this system are safely stored and accessed through the Bastille(R), G-TEC's ultra-secure Virtual Private Network (VPN). The Manor at York Town is the first community to showcase G-TEC's and AcSys Biometrics' integrated high- tech security applications.

"Fumbling for keys will be a thing of the past, thanks to VoicePass(R)," Cristian Ivanescu, G-TEC Chairman and CEO said. "This cutting edge technology uses a human voiceprint to control access to all areas. You simply speak, and within seconds access is granted and the door unlocks." Only registered residents, authorized guests, or employees can gain access within The Manor. "This system will also help reduce personnel costs," Ivanescu said.

The VoicePass(R) network incorporates proximity cards/smart cards with a voiceprint for all entry points. Furthermore, the biometric technology is also used in the local store, allowing the integration of biometrics into routine shopping errands. Residents shopping in the Yorktown Manor on-site store only need to be seen and heard before walking out with their products. The G-TEC technology securely bills their accounts -- there is no need for cash, credit cards or a wallet.

The VoicePass(R) access terminal utilizes the most convenient and accurate voice capturing technology. In an emergency, the system provides network voice file uploads with secondary keypad access.

The FaceTrac(R) biometric interface enhances security by providing surveillance and access control in busy areas. The system, based on AcSys Biometrics' FRS, is able to capture up to four facial images simultaneously, and denies access to visitors who are not recognized, while digitally recording and storing the event.

"AcSys is pleased to bring its facial recognition biometric abilities to The Manor project. Working with G-TEC to provide layered technologies to this project will enhance the security and safety of the residence of this adult luxury-living complex," said David Lobb, president and CEO of NEXUS Group.

"This is the future of building security, computer and ATM access and even shopping," Ivanescu said. "The Manor project is an excellent example of how our systems can achieve a superior level of safety, while preserving a person's privacy. The biometric information is securely stored and only accessed when a particular person passes through it. Our system also prevents identity theft, as only the resident's voice and face can be used to access their property," Ivanescu said.

To protect the data, G-TEC employed the Bastille(R) proprietary VPN infrastructure, which maintains biometric information and digital images. The VPN stores and supplies the data to the source when required, without the need for the user to support and maintain local, expensive databases.

G-TEC (www.graphcotech.com) is an advanced technology and systems company focused on being a leading provider of secure access, biometric identification, surveillance and secure data hosting solutions. G-TEC established market presence by deploying FaceTrac(R), its facial recognition biometric surveillance, at the professional football championship game held at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida in January 2001.
