I don't think bringing in inspectors is enough. Afghanistan is quite an eye-opener. Americans are being greeted there with open arms by a broad cross-section of the population. Perhaps it's time the U.S. invades both Iraq and Iran, finishing off two of the cruelest regimes on the planet, replacing them with democracies. Then, I think it's time to think about overthrowing every illegitimate government in the Middle East. If anything, what happened on September 11 proves the great danger of illegitimate regimes fostering within and then redirecting anger and resentment towards the outside world. Saudi Arabia should be top of the list. It is no coincidence that a majority of the hijackers were Saudis.

As for Iran, there have been a number of huge pro-American demonstrations by students in that country recently. Those students would welcome democracy with open arms. All they need is a bit of aid from the world's most influential democracy and they will be well on their way. In this manner, a lot of potential future enemies could be made present dear friends of the U.S.

I recall that President Bush, in outlining U.S. war strategy some time ago, clearly stated that deception would be one major weapon in this war. So, the so-called "cooperation" with Pakistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia at the moment could quite easily be a stratagem. The United States has an historic opportunity, the moral standing and right at this moment to abolish immoral and illegitimate rulers throughout the Middle East - and elsewhere. I hope President Bush continues to seize the moment.

So many have looked for reasons why some are radicalized in their resentment against the United States. Perhaps it is because deep down they seek our help. Not the wildest of extremists, but the thousands of others, I believe, given that the radical groups extending aid in efforts to support their terror-recruitment drives, if they are replaced with U.S. aid, they will renounce terror in favor of hope for the future. After we bring about the demise of the evil, we may begin to spread the good.
